BACK-UP METERING SCHEMES FOR AMUKPE,
SAPELE AND OBEN FLOWSTATIONS (NIGERIA)

Amukpe, Sapele and Oben flowstations were handed over by the SPDC JV to a Nigerian company within one of the recent Shell divestments. The three (3) flowstations are all two phase separating facilities. Oil and water are pumped to Amukpe manifold. The Amukpe manifold also receives export quality crude from other parties through a LACT unit. The commingled crude and water is sent to Rapele manifold, from where it is injected into the Forcados trunkline. Upon transfer of operatorship fiscal measurement of the commingled crude/water injected at the Rapele injection point became necessary. Due to the long delivery time of the LACT unit an interim solution shall be provided. The interim solution consists of clamp-on ultrasonic meters. Upgrade of production metering equipment at Amukpe, Sapele and Oben flowstations by the installation of quality loops was also required. All equipment for the back-up metering schemes was commissioned in August / September 2010.
